Suzie joined Amegy Bank, a division of ZB, N.A., in 1995 and was one of two women who helped launch the Investments Division for Amegy Bank which grew to a 70-person team with $11B in assets under supervision. From 1995–2009, Suzie served in the capacity of a Private Client Broker and RIA representative working with personal and corporate clients trading equities, fixed income, options and providing financial planning. As a retirement plan expert, she built a 401k practice for the bank that grew to over $2.5B in assets, covered over 200 plans impacting over 22,000 plan participants.
In 2009, Suzie became the Manager of the Investments Division where she provided overall leadership to its 70 employees comprised of Foreign Exchange Sales/Trading, Corporate Investments, Retirement Plan Services, Personal Brokerage, Personal Trust, Real Estate/Oil & Gas Management, Discretionary Managed Investments, and Investments/FX Operations. Suzie served as Executive Vice President of Amegy Bank, President/CEO of Amegy Investments, Inc., Chairman of the Board of Directors for Amegy Investments, Inc. and Amegy Insurance Agency as well as Chairman of the Division’s Asset Allocation Committee.
Prior to joining Amegy Bank, she was an entrepreneur for 18 years as the founder and CEO of a nationally recognized educational consulting firm that provided technical training to bankers in the areas of ERISA based retirement plans, new account documentation and compliance, and investments. In 1977, she wrote one of the first seminars in the country in the areas of IRA accounts and New Account Documentation and Compliance. Her workshops were endorsed by the American Bankers Association, the American Institute of Banking, and 18 state banking associations and are still taught today – 38 years later.
She serves on the faculty of the Texas Bankers Association’s Graduate Trust School where she teaches an advanced investments course. In 2011, Suzie was included as part of a Zions Bancorporation’s “Top Women Banking Team” awarded by the American Bankers Association and was named by the Texas Executive Women Organization as a “2011 Women on the Move”. In 2009, the Women’s Resource of Greater Houston, an organization that helps women and children build financial literacy, named Jones as one of Houston’s “Outstanding Women in Banking and Financial Services”. She was named as the “Volunteer of the Month” and has been recognized numerous times by the Spring Branch Independent School District for her work with her own 501c non-profit organization, Flight XXV: Your Passport to College, whose mission is to proactively work with needs-based students in attaining a high school education and ultimately enrolling in college. Suzie is a Certified Financial Planner, a graduate of Leadership Houston Class XXV; a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum’s Class XXXII and attended the University of Houston.
